Member Profile – Tyler G.

January’s New England Tri Fit Member Profile spotlight is on Tyler G.  It’s no secret that Tyler and a certain unnamed other member of NETF have a long-standing triathlon bro-mance going on. What IS a secret, apparently, is a FUN FACT about Tyler. New in the 2020 edition of the Member Spotlight feature is a chance for you, the fellow NETF members, to divulge YOUR fun fact about the spotlighted member in the comments section of this post on Facebook.

What is your Athletic Background?
I raced dirt bikes for a short time and played tournament paintball for year’s.

When and Why did you Start Training for Triathlons? It all started roughly five years ago with the season opener triathlon. After crossing that finish line I was instantly hooked. What got me into triathlons was hearing about the people who complete a full Ironman. I had no idea you could train the human body to complete that distance. I set my goal to finish a 70.3 (“Because a full would just be crazy!”). Well……I ended up racing my first full Ironman this summer. If you told me five years ago I would finish an Ironman and do well, I wouldn’t believe you.

What is your Most Memorable/Favorite Race and Why? Without a doubt crossing the finish line at Ironman Mont Tremblant. It was a race but also a lesson. Triathlon is more than a sport to me, it’s a healthy lifestyle. If you give 100% to something you can achieve anything.

What Races are you excited for in the 2020 Season? Ironman Atlantic City 70.3.

What do you do When You are Not Tri-ing? I enjoy doing home improvement.

What is your Favorite Place to Run/Ride? Anywhere it’s not cold.

What Kind of “Off Season” Training do you do? Mountain biking.

What is a Fun Fact about you? When I started swimming with NETF I could barely make one length of the pool.

Can you Share a Triathlon Tip? Don’t race in training. Race your own race.

What do you love best about being a NETF Club Member? Meeting people that have the same passion and drive that I do.
