Tracey is a busy mother of three girls, former college athlete, and massage therapist. Since Tracey joined the club in January of 2014, she can be spotted at many club workouts, but always seems to find a way to take it up a notch. While most of us might drive to the lake, Tracey will bike there and back from her not so local home town of Raynham. Clearly Tracey doesn’t shy away from a challenge, having several half and two full marathons under her belt.
What is your Athletic Background? I played college soccer and softball. I ran 2 marathons, 3 half marathons, bunch of smaller races and a few triathlons before joining NE Tri Fit in 2014.
When and Why did you Start Training for Triathlons? I was a lifeguard at Craigville beach in the late 1990s. I had the opportunity to work a couple triathlons there. It looked like fun and something I would enjoy. I first started out doing the swim part of the Nantucket iron team relay. That is a fun race! The Falmouth sprint triathlon was my first triathlon in 1998.
What is your Most Memorable/Favorite Race and Why? It would be Ironman Lake Placid 2018. The longest race I completed. I enjoyed it very much because 1) I was able to see familiar faces with big smiles and encouraging me on the course; 2) although I had great training plans to follow, I didn’t get down on myself that I didn’t complete every one. With a busy family I realize my priorities lie with them; 3) I had a great support team cheering me on along the way. I couldn’t have been more excited to see them all in different locations; and 4) I completed the race how I wanted to, with a smile on my face. Not grimacing wanting the race to end. I may not have left it all on the course. I felt like I could have gone on more but it was my first Ironman and I didn’t know how much I could have pushed myself on each event. I didn’t want to burn out on the run and finish.
What Races are you Excited for next Season? So far, I am signed up to do the Patriot and ironman Maine 70.3.
What is your Favorite Place to Run/Ride? My favorite place to run would be at any beach. I also love to run when I go on vacation. It is a great way to see your surroundings.
What do you do when you’re not Training? When I am not training I am running around with my 3 daughters. They keep my husband and me very busy. I am also a massage therapist in Foxboro.
What Kind of “Off Season” Training do you do? Working on my core and improving my technique with each event.
What is a Fun Fact about you? I love watching old tv sitcoms. Like I love Lucy, and the Burns and Allen show.
Can you Share a Triathlon Tip? Getting a massage during your training is a great way to help your body recover. I wish I would follow that rule but I am too busy giving them to receive them. I am going work on that this coming season.
You would never train without your… Garmin, Chew’s or Gu’s? Gu, Open Water or Pool? Open Water Swim, Bike, or Run? Bike!
